South Park is Matt and Trey's most famous creation. It is an Animated Sitcom that runs on Comedy Central.
Premis
The show takes place in the real life town of South Park, Colorado. Each episode is about a different character in the town, however most episodes follow the four main boys, Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman and Kenny McCormick. Many episodes deal with moral or political issues.
Creation
When Matt and Trey were in University they made a number of short films together. One was entitled "the Spirit of Christmas: Jesus vs Frosty". It was animated using construction paper and featured childeren who resemble the South Park characters. Later after they were in Hollywood trying to get distribution for Cannibal! the Musical they were asked to make an animated christmas card. They made it in the same style as there last one, it was called "the Spirit of Christmas: Jesus vs Santa" and the characters were Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny. The film became a hit on the Internet and Comedy Central wanted to make it into a weekly show. Matt and Trey then made the pilot, "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe". It didn't test well in focus groups and so Matt and Trey began production of Orgazmo. While making the movie Comedy Central decided to give "South Park" another chance and Matt and Trey made the second pilot, "Waight Gain 4000", this time they used computer animation instead of stop motion paper. "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe" was brodcast as the first episode in Augest of 1997.
